Here is Your Guide to CLAT 2017

CLAT 2017 or Common Law Admission Test is thecentralised entrance exam for 17 National Law Universities of India. Dates for CLAT 2017 have been declared. The examination will be conducted on 14th May, 2017 at various centres across the country. Get all the ‘must know’ information about CLAT 2017 in this article.

CLAT 2017 Application Form:

The application form for CLAT 2017 is available on the official website of CLAT (http://clat.ac.in/). CLAT 2017 registrations can be done via online mode only. For the convenience of candidates, an online interface is provided to them where they can:
1. Register themselves for CLAT 2017
2. Fill up and submit the application form
3. Upload the documents, such as photograph, signature, certificates etc.
4. Pay the application fee online
5. Download Admit Card
6. Download question papers of previous years after paying a required fee of INR 400
7. View marks and CLAT rank

Last Date for submission of application form — 31st March 2017 (Friday)
Admit Card Availability From — 20th April 2017 (Thursday)
Examination Date — 14th May 2017 (Sunday), 3 PM to 5 PM
Announcement of Result — 25th May 2017 (Thursday)
Announcement of Merit List — Last week of May 2017
Start date for Counselling — 29th May 2017 (Sunday)

CLAT 2017 Eligibility Criteria:

Eligibility Criteria for Undergraduate Programme in CLAT 2017:

1. Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent with
• Minimum 45% marks in case of candidates belonging to Unreserved /OBC /Specially Abled Persons (SAP) and other categories,
• Minimum 40% marks in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST categories.

2. Candidates appearing in qualifying examinations in March/April are also eligible to apply for CLAT 2017.

3. Age limit criteria will be imposed for CLAT 2017 undergraduate programme. A candidate should be:
• Below 20 years of age as on 1st July 2017 in case of Unreserved/NRIs/NRI Sponsored category candidates
• Below 22 years of age as on 1st July 2017 in case of SC/ST/ OBC/Specially Abled Persons (SAP) category candidates.

Eligibility Criteria for PG Programme in CLAT 2017:

1. Candidates must have passed LLB or equivalent with
• Minimum 55% marks in case of candidates belonging to Unreserved /OBC /Specially Abled Persons (SAP) and other categories,
• Minimum 50% marks in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST categories.
2. Candidates awaiting results for the qualification exams are also eligible.
3. There is no age restriction for the PG programme for CLAT 2017.

CLAT 2017 Exam Pattern:

CLAT 2017 will be an online exam. Candidates have to attempt 200 MCQs in two hours. Every correct answer will account for one mark and for every wrong answer 0.25 marks will be deducted. There will be five sections covering one subject each. The table below shows the distribution of marks per subject:

CLAT 2017 Section-wise Syllabus:

CLAT 2017 Admit Card:

Admit cards for CLAT 2017 will be available from 20th April, 2017. Candidates can sign in to their registered account on the official website of CLAT and download their admit card there. The authorities will not send the admit card via any means –post or e-mail.
Candidates must carry a coloured copy of their admit card along with a valid ID proof to the CLAT centres. If they fail to do so, they won’t be allowed to appear for the exam.

CLAT 2017 Result:

The result of CLAT 2017 will be declared on 25thMay, 2017. Result will be available on the official website of CLAT. In the case of tie between two or more candidates, the one who scored higher in Legal Aptitude will be given preference. If it is still a tie then the candidate with higher age will be given preference.

CLAT 2017 Counselling:

After the merit list is released for CLAT 2017, the counselling procedure will commence. From 25th May, 2017 until 25th June, 2017, the counselling will continue. It will be a centralized process and the allotment of seat will be as per merit-cum-preference basis.
